Weatherford launches new composite frac plug to reduce mill-out time
Weatherford launched its TruFrac composite frac plug at the 2015 SPE/ICoTA Coiled Tubing and Well Intervention Conference in The Woodlands, Texas, on 24 March. The plug is rated for use in environments with temperatures up to 300°F and pressures up to 10,000 psi. It was designed to significantly reduce mill-out time, Matt Crump, Product Line Manager-Composites for Weatherford, said in an exclusive video interview with DC Editorial Coordinator Kelli Ainsworth. In a recent Eagle Ford application, the plug reduced mill-out time to an average of 10.5 minutes per plug from an industry average of 25 minutes per plug, according to Weatherford.
