Human-related challenges must be managed as data changes the way we operate
As the industry uses more and more data to change the way operations are done on a drilling rig, challenges around issues such as data reliability and accessibility must be confronted. But humans also pose a significant challenge that must be managed, said George Buck, General Manager of Drilling and Completions for Chevron Energy Technology Company, at the IADC Drilling Engineers Committee Q3 Technology Forum on 25 September in Houston. After the event, Mr Buck spoke with DC Editorial Assistant Jay Stracke about how Chevron addresses its data challenges, as well as how the company approaches human-related obstacles, such as behavioral change management.
