Nanotechnology has potential to improve tool performance in extreme environments

In terms of temperature stability and corrosion, tools have limitations, especially in extremely challenging drilling environments. Jothibasu Ramasamy, Petroleum Scientist at Saudi Aramco, discussed how nanotechnology can help industry overcome those limitations at the 2014 IADC Critical Issues Middle East Conference in Dubai on 9 December. The mechanical properties of nanomaterial provide higher fatigue resistance, shock resistance and load bearing capacity.
