Challenges such as riser and surface equipment limitation need to be considered to define recommended practices for deepwater well control using MPD, Bhavin Patel, MPD engineer for Weatherford, said at the 2013 IADC Well Control Conference of the Americas last week in Galveston. To date, Weatherford has deployed MPD from floaters on 19 wells worldwide.
