Ensign Energy Services was recognized at the inaugural Canada Oil & Gas Awards on 24 June with the Award for Drilling Excellence.
The Award for Drilling Excellence recognizes organizations providing advanced drilling solutions to the energy industry using the latest drilling technologies and techniques and for demonstrating commitment to environmental impact mitigation. Ensign scored highest in the category after launching its Advanced Drill Rig (ADR) 1500S last fall, which is Ensign’s next-generation of automated full-sized walking rigs.
“I think it’s an endorsement of the fact that the machine and the operation is real and viable, and is a little bit of a game changer in the business,” Ensign President and COO Bob Geddes said.
The judging panel also made special note of Ensign’s new Automated Service Rig (ASR), as well as the company’s Global Risk Management System, which is a proprietary fit-for-purpose software platform that automates HSE reporting.
This is the second award Ensign has received from the Oil & Gas Awards in the past year, with Ensign’s Drilling group out of California receiving the award for Excellence in Health and Safety at the 2014 West Coast Oil & Gas Awards.
In May 2015, the company achieved a corporate global milestone, with more than 975,000 manhours worked with zero recordable injuries, a testament to Ensign’s commitment to its “Driving to Zero” safety vision.
“We went almost a million manhours with zero recordable injuries,” Mr Geddes said. “That’s about 600 manyears with zero recordable injuries.”
