Tests confirm high productivity in the Carcará pre-salt
Two formation tests have been completed on the 3-SPS-105 well, confirming the high productivity of the pre-salt carbonate reservoirs, Petrobras announced. The well, known as Carcará Norte, is located inside the Carcará Discovery Evaluation Plan (PAD) area, 4.6 km north of the discovery well (4-SPS-86B), in a water depth of 2,070 m and reaching a final depth of 6,338 m inside basalt rock.
Two formation tests carried out on the pre-salt reservoirs confirmed excellent productivity at both intervals. Estimates indicate that the well’s output potential may be as high as the most prolific wells of the Santos Basin’s pre-salt layer, with good quality oil (31º API), free of contaminants (H2S and CO2), according to Petrobras.
Results from the fluid and pressure analyses in the formation tests on 3-SPS-105, as well as the tests conducted on the discovery well and the Carcará Noroeste well (3-SPS-104DA), indicate that it is a single oil accumulation.
Petrobras (66%) is the operator of the consortium, in partnership with Petrogal Brasil (14%), Barra Energia do Brasil Petróleo e Gás (10%) and Queiroz Galvão Exploração e Produção (10%).
The consortium will continue implementing the Carcará Discovery Evaluation Plan approved by the National Oil, Natural Gas and Biofuels Agency (ANP), and completion is expected by March 2018.
