All-liquid cementing system completes 5 jobs in Gulf of Mexico
Compared with conventional cements, Baker Hughes’ all-liquid FoamSet system maintains a constant pressure to keep the water or gas in the formation and out of the cement. Umberto Micheli, Vice President of Cementing for Baker Hughes, explained how the system works and how it simplifies the logistics of cement application at the 2014 SPE Annual Technical Conference and Exhibition in Amsterdam on 29 October. The system has already been deployed in the deepwater Gulf of Mexico, and Mr Micheli sees potential applications in Angola, Brazil and onshore in the Permian Basin.
