Wider adoption of virtual, augmented reality on the horizon for drilling industry
While virtual reality and augmented reality technologies have yet to be widely adopted, their potential to achieve cost reductions is significant, Jeff Sattler said in a presentation at the 2017 IADC Asset Integrity and Reliability Conference in Houston on 22 August. In this video with DC, Mr Sattler discusses current applications of virtual reality in the drilling industry, the potential future applications of augmented reality, as well as hardware limitations that constrain these technologies’ wider deployment.
Further, look for Mr Sattler’s article in the upcoming November/December 2017 issue of DC as he discusses virtual and augmented reality technologies in more detail.
