US land rig count continues to rise

At 705, the US land rig count has surpassed 700 for the first time since late 2015. According to the latest Baker Hughes rig report, a total of 729 onshore and offshore rigs are working in the United States. North American drilling contractors have put 15 rigs to work over the past week, raising the rig count from 1,057 to 1,072. This time last year, only 813 rigs were drilling in the United States and Canada.
