SIMMONS EDECO completes drilling campaign in Mexico
SIMMONS EDECO has announced that it has completed an onshore drilling campaign for a major oilfield services company in Mexico.
The USD multi-million dollar contract required SIMMONS EDECO to provide onshore drilling services on a field in the south of Mexico. The 13 wells are deviated “S” type wells, and feature a maximum target depth of 1,200 meters. These new wells will be integrated into a field wide steam injection program.
To ensure maximum efficiency, SIMMONS EDECO used the highly mobile MD Cowan Super Single Drilling Rig to drill these wells. Its extremely small footprint means that impact on the environment is minimal, and its automated pipe handling system means that is safer and easier to operate.
“We are very excited that this drilling initiative has been successfully completed, with each well drilled to its target depth. We attribute our success on this project, and throughout Mexico, to providing outstanding service and our commitment to working with local communities wherever we operate,” Niels Versfeld, CEO of SIMMONS EDECO, said. “We employ experienced people from Mexico, so not only are they familiar with the unique physical challenges of carrying out drilling operations there, but also those associated with doing business. These are valuable assets to draw upon, as we continue to expand and work in Mexico.”
Now that the operation has been completed effectively and on time, SIMMONS EDECO may be retained to drill a further six wells.
Earlier this year, SIMMONS EDECO opened a new operations base in Villahermosa, Tabasco to support this contract and others in the area.
