Real-time optimization partnership yields faster connection times, higher ROPs

Data collected during the drilling process can, if properly analyzed, shed light on trends and opportunities to optimize operations. National Oilwell Varco (NOV) developed INFORM, an offering under its eVolve Optimization Service, to leverage this data and provide optimization support and advice to operators. Recently, NOV partnered with a US operator to provide real-time remote optimization services. In this video from 6 March at the 2018 IADC/SPE Drilling Conference in Fort Worth, Texas, Ricardo Borjas, Director-Drilling Optimization Services for NOV, explains some of the challenges operators face when setting up real-time optimization centers – including a high initial investment – and how NOV was able to tackle these challenges. He also discusses some of the results the partnership was able to achieve, including improved connection times and higher rates of penetration.
