New conical diamond element bit saves operator 6 days in Kazakhstan

An operator in Kazakhstan recently saved six days by deploying Schlumberger’s StingBlade conical diamond element bit. The operator was able to drill at a 166% higher ROP, and the bit produced larger cuttings that could be easily separated from the drilling fluid, said Allen White, Product Champion at Smith Bits, a Schlumberger company. In this video, Mr White discusses the bit’s design and applications at the 2014 SPE Annual Technical Conference and Exhibition in Amsterdam on 28 October.
