Battalion lines up eight-well Permian Basin cube development
Battalion Oil executed a joint development agreement (JDA) for an up to eight-well drilling program at its Monument Draw acreage in Ward County, Texas.
The initial phase will focus on a four-well pad scheduled to commence drilling in late Q2 or early Q3 2026. The program targets the 3rd Bone Spring, Wolfcamp A and Wolfcamp B formations and is structured as a carry arrangement, with Battalion retaining operatorship and a majority working interest.
The development transitions Battalion’s operations to cube-style co-development across its primary benches, targeting more than 100 additional drilling locations in the Wolfcamp B and 3rd Bone Spring formations.
Two offset wells have demonstrated strong early production results. One achieved cumulative production of 389 Mboe through 267 production days, while a second reached 123 Mboe through 82 production days from a 2,637-ft partially completed lateral, representing the highest production per foot of completed lateral in the company’s history.
