Diamond Offshore steps up efforts to not only attract but also retain young talent

Finding and retaining young talent has become one of the biggest challenges the oil and gas industry faces as it looks to ensure its long-term future in a changing energy landscape. With oil and gas facing competition from tech and the renewables sector, companies must work harder than ever to show young workers that they can provide a pathway to a long, fruitful career.

In this interview with DC from the 2023 IADC Offshore Regional Forum in Houston on 26 September, Patrick “PJ” Janes, Managing Director and Area Manager of Gulf of Mexico and West Africa Operations at Diamond Offshore, discusses the challenges he faces in finding and recruiting the right people, as well as the steps Diamond Offshore is taking to attract talent.

He also explains why retaining new talent can be just as much of a challenge for the industry as attracting it. Mr Janes spoke at a panel discussion during the forum on talent recruitment and retention.
