Embedding MPD in well delivery plan can help to reduce overall well costs
The industry continues to see a shift in the planning and adoption of managed pressure drilling (MPD) practices. While not every well may need MPD, actively planning for it before drilling begins can provide cost reduction and other well construction benefits, even if MPD is not used at the well site, said Leiro Medina, VP of Technology with Beyond Energy, at the IADC Drilling Engineers Committee (DEC) Technology Forum on 12 March in Houston. In this video, Mr Medina discusses how MPD is being deployed to increase efficiency in Canada, the challenges to more widespread adoption of MPD, and the steps that companies can take to help MPD reach higher market maturity.
