Climate, environment challenge operations in Myanmar, Thailand
In Q1 this year, Myanmar awarded 20 offshore blocks – 10 shallow-water and 10 deepwater. In Q4 last year, 16 land blocks were awarded. “Myanmar is probably one of the last frontier areas in the world with reasonably accessible conventional oil and gas,” Steve McBride, General Manager, Thailand & Myanmar for Weatherford, said. Mr McBride chaired the special session, “Drilling Opportunities and Lessons Learnt in Myanmar,” at the 2014 IADC/SPE Asia Pacific Drilling Technology Conference, 25-27 August in Bangkok. In this video, Mr McBride describes climatic challenges in both Thailand and Myanmar, as well as the drive for efficiency to meet operational demands.
