Hess SmartDrill optimization process improves ERD in North Malay Basin

Last year offshore Malaysia, Hess deployed its SmartDrill drilling optimization process for the company’s first extended-reach drilling (ERD) campaign, which included two wells in the region. Between the first and second ERD well, Hess followed the “plan-do-check-adjust” methodology to optimize performance, Will Scott, Hess Malaysia E&P, said at the 2014 IADC/SPE Asia Pacific Drilling Technology Conference in Bangkok on 26 August.
