Khalda sets drilling record in Egypt with three wells in one month

Khalda Petroleum handed over three consecutive wells within a month using one rig, the first time it has done so since its establishment, and reported 17.7% in cost savings.

The KAH-B-54 well was completed in 7.5 days from spud to handover, making it Khalda’s fastest well to date. The KAH-B-53 well took 8.9 days, the company’s third fastest. Khalda also cut drill pipe connection time by 25.3% to 7.5 minutes.

The company credited reduced non-productive time, better use of time and equipment and streamlined processes. Technical changes included refurbished drill bits, Equal Rubber Thickness (ERT) motors that improved execution rates and more selective use of high-cost rotary steerable systems (RSS) where technically feasible.
