Williamsburg flow test points to gas condensate in Cotton Valley “C” interval

Southern Energy’s Terrible Creek 21-2 #2 Cotton Valley vertical well in the Williamsburg Field in Mississippi stabilized at 2,300 mcf/d of natural gas plus 50 barrels of condensate per day, equivalent to about 430 barrels of oil equivalent per day (boed), at the end of a 72-hour flow test. The well flowed without fracture stimulation on a 32/64-in. choke at a flowing tubing pressure of 435 psig. The rates are gross, and Southern holds a 50% working interest.
The well encountered a Cotton Valley “C” gross interval about 110 ft thick, more than expected based on two offset deep wells drilled in the 1970s, and Southern perforated 71 ft of net pay. The test results suggest a gas condensate reservoir, unlike analogous Cotton Valley reservoirs at Seminary, Collins and Northeast Collins, which show oil phase behavior. Southern is running fluid phase testing to confirm. The company is building wellsite facilities and expects to bring the well on production by mid-November 2026.
Southern has started the land and regulatory processes to permit two follow-up Cotton Valley locations and expects to spud the next well in early first quarter of 2027, subject to approvals. That well would be the second of two commitment wells under the joint venture wellbore participation agreement announced on 26 May 2026.
