Following best practices can help to prevent errors in human/machine interaction
As modern drilling rigs become more technologically advanced and touchscreens are more frequently used to control various operations, the possibility of critical human error during interface with this equipment grows. Indeed, the wrong human interpretation of information can prove catastrophic in drilling environments. In this video, Vincent Dansereau, User Experience Team Lead at Pason Systems, details best practices for implementing touchscreens on offshore rigs. He believes they can help rig employees’ decision making and help drilling contractors avoid catastrophes.
