Santos spuds first well in Papua New Guinea oil infill campaign

Santos completed the reactivation of a rig for its oil infill drilling campaign in Papua New Guinea (PNG) during Q3, and the first well was spudded after Q3 ended on 30 September. The country’s National Petroleum Authority approved the program.
The company said Santos-operated PNG gas facilities supplied 16% of the feedstock for the PNG LNG project, which ran at an annualized rate of 8.7 million tonnes per year.
Elsewhere in PNG, construction began on the Agogo Production Facility tie-in project during Q3, with all major design and construction contracts awarded. Conversion of the floating storage and offtake vessel for the Kutubu Pipeline System is progressing in a Malaysian shipyard, with subsea installation planned for Q4.
