Baker Hughes targets Lower Tertiary trend with integrated completion/production system
Driven by operators’ focus on getting increased production from ultra-deepwater projects, Baker Hughes has engineered the Hammerhead completion and production system. The wellhead-to-reservoir system targets operations in 5,000-10,000 ft of water with well depths up to 33,000 ft. It was developed to withstand temperatures up to 300˚F and bottomhole pressures near 25,000 psi – typically found in the Gulf of Mexico’s Lower Tertiary trend. Baker Hughes developed the system with high-yield strength materials, “looking at innovative ways to maximize the ID of the bore while maintaining the appropriate hydrostatic pressures, as well as making a larger ID to facilitate larger production tubing that enables a higher flow rate with lower friction,” Robbie Pateder, Director Lower Tertiary Integrated Product Team for Baker Hughes, said.
