IADC Cybersecurity Task Group to provide industry guidance to assess risks
The oil and gas industry is not immune to cybersecurity threats, from computer viruses and malware to targeted attacks. The IADC Advanced Rig Technology (ART) Committee, in conjunction with the Drilling Systems Control Subcommittee, hosted a cybersecurity workshop on 9 October. Siv Hilde Houmb, Cybersecurity Task Group Leader, explained the goal of the group is to build recommendations based on existing standards. “We’re not intending to write new standards; we’re trying to provide guidance” to assess cybersecurity risks for drilling assets, she said.
