Umm Shaif Gas Cap FID includes 14-well ADNOC Drilling contract

ADNOC took a final investment decision on the Umm Shaif Gas Cap development offshore Abu Dhabi, alongside partners TotalEnergies, Eni and China National Petroleum Corporation. The project targets more than 600 million standard cu ft/day of natural gas and associated gas liquids, with production expected by 2030.

As part of the sanctioning, ADNOC Drilling was awarded a $365 million contract covering a 14-well drilling and integrated drilling services program, to be delivered over 18 months using three existing rigs. The award sits alongside three separate EPC packages for offshore infrastructure awarded to other contractors.

Umm Shaif is Abu Dhabi’s longest-operating offshore field, in production since the 1960s. The gas cap development builds on ADNOC’s broader gas growth strategy, which also includes the recently awarded Bab Gas Cap concession and a new LNG marketing and trading platform based in Abu Dhabi Global Market.
