Silver City rig spuds Eastern Gas Venus-2H well

Eastern Gas began drilling the Venus-2H horizontal appraisal well at its wholly owned Project Venus in Queensland’s Surat Basin. Silver City Drilling Rig 34 was mobilized ahead of the spud, with drilling starting on 10 August 2026.

Venus-2H is the first well in a campaign of up to two wells targeting the Walloon Coal Seam Gas fairway. The well is designed to evaluate reservoir deliverability, gas content and production performance, with data from the well set to support future reserve conversion and field development planning.
