Diamondback drills first four-well pad in the Barnett

Diamondback Energy drilled its first four-well pad in the Barnett formation at Spanish Trail, part of the company’s expanding development program in the play. Completion of the pad is expected within the coming months.

The pad marks a step forward in Diamondback’s Barnett program, which the company has built up in the Midland Basin in recent years. Diamondback holds approximately 900 gross Barnett locations and has been working to lower drilling costs in the formation as it scales up activity.

Diamondback operates primarily in the Permian Basin of West Texas and southeastern New Mexico, where the Barnett sits alongside the company’s core Wolfcamp and Spraberry programs.
