Petrobras revises MPD application strategy

Petrobras has been working to revise its MPD usage strategy. The Brazilian operator recognized that the use of MPD systems was adding complexity, rig time and costs to its operations. However, most of the time, the costs, duration and risk of the wells were being increased without necessity, said Pedro Esteves Aranha, Technical Advisor for Petrobras. In this video with DC at the 2017 IADC/SPE Managed Pressure Drilling and Underbalanced Operations Conference in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, on 28 March, Mr Aranha explains the major steps that Petrobras now takes to evaluate scenarios for development wells.
