Ana Zambelli appointed as new CCO of Maersk Drilling

Maersk Drilling has appointed Ana Zambelli as Chief Commercial Officer (CCO), effective 1 June. She will report directly to CEO Claus V. Hemmingsen.

Ms Zambelli joins Maersk Drilling from Transocean, where she has served as Managing Director for Subsea Operations since 2012. Before Transocean, she held various positions at Schlumberger between 1996 and 2011, including as President for operations in Brazil. She holds a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from the Universidade Federal Do Rio de Janeiro and a master’s degree in petroleum engineering from Heriot-Watt University in Edinburgh. Ms Zambelli also holds an Advanced Certificate for Executives in Management, Innovation and Technology from Sloan School of Management in MIT.

“With Ana on board, Maersk Drilling will be taking the next step in enhancing our customer interaction,” Mr. Hemmingsen said. “Ana’s technical knowledge and extensive leadership experience will be a great asset for commercial department. Furthermore, Ana’s vast operational experience, not least from her long tenure at Schlumberger, will be the right fit for the new journey Maersk Drilling is embarking on, where partnership, integration and well efficiency will be the focal points of our value proposition and on-going discussion with our customers.”

Ms Zambelli will assume the position of CCO after Martin Fruergaard, who is leaving Maersk Drilling following 25 years in the Maersk Group, six of them as CCO for Maersk Drilling.

“Martin has for more than 25 years served the Maersk Group in various positions, the last six years as CCO of Maersk Drilling, where he has been instrumental in our growth and has provided for increased customer relations as a large part of the recipe for our success. I wish Martin all the best of luck in his future endeavors and thank him for his contribution to Maersk Drilling and the Maersk Group,” Mr. Hemmingsen said.
