Vallourec wins tubular contract for Prinos CO₂ storage project

Vallourec secured a contract from EnEarth, a subsidiary of Energean, to supply premium tubular solutions for the first phase of the Prinos CO₂ storage project in Greece.

The contract covers about 3,000 tonnes of casing pipe and accessories, including seamless carbon steel and corrosion resistant alloy casing equipped with VAM premium connections. The order also includes CLEANWELL, Vallourec’s dope-free running solution.

Prinos CO₂, located offshore Greece, aims to convert a depleted oil reservoir into a permanent CO₂ storage site, with a targeted injection capacity of up to 2.8 million tonnes per year and a total proved and probable storage capacity of 51.5 million tonnes. The project has been recognized by the European Union as a project of common interest and is supported by European and Greek funding programs.

EnEarth is developing Prinos CO₂ as one of Europe’s most advanced carbon storage projects and the first of its kind in the Eastern Mediterranean. The field lies off the coast of Kavala in northern Greece.
