Invictus taps SLB for well services on Musuma-1 exploration well
Invictus Energy handed SLB a drilling and well services contract for the Musuma-1 exploration well at the Cabora Bassa project in Zimbabwe.
SLB will provide specialized services, technology and operational resources for the Musuma-1 campaign, building on its earlier work on Invictus’s Mukuyu-2 drilling program. Equipment preparation, logistics and mobilization planning are now underway.
Construction of the Musuma-1 wellpad, access roads and supporting civil infrastructure is also progressing, while contractor Exalo has begun maintenance and readiness work on Rig 202 ahead of its move to the site. Invictus said the parallel workstreams keep the well on schedule to spud in November 2026.
Musuma-1 will test an independent exploration target within the Eastern Margin play in the Cabora Bassa Basin, targeting an estimated 1.2 tcf of gas and 73 million bbl of condensate. It is the first high impact exploration well Invictus plans to drill outside the Mukuyu gas condensate discovery area.
