Plants & Goodwin drills first CCS well for Zefiro Methane

Zefiro Methane began drilling its first carbon sequestration well, an eight-week project in eastern Indiana carried out by subsidiary Plants & Goodwin.

The well is drilled into a target geologic strata evaluated as a suitable CO₂ storage reservoir. Plants & Goodwin is applying the same crews, rigs and downhole expertise it uses for well plugging work, drawing in part on rigs acquired in its Viking Well Service equipment acquisition completed in May 2026.

The project marks the company’s first operations in Indiana as well as its first carbon sequestration well. Zefiro also began its first project in Michigan, an emergency response well intervention where hydrogen sulfide is flowing to the surface, requiring supplied air and full ventilator systems for crews on site.
