Valaris 107 completes five-well Turrum Phase 3 campaign

The Gippsland Basin joint venture between Esso Australia, a subsidiary of ExxonMobil, and Woodside Energy completed drilling five new production wells under the Turrum Phase 3 project, with the Valaris 107 jackup demobilized from the Marlin B Complex following the campaign. The wells target underdeveloped gas resources in the Turrum and North Turrum fields, located about 42 km off the Gippsland coastline in Victoria.

Turrum Phase 3 represents an investment of about A$350 million and is designed to extend production from existing offshore infrastructure while supporting gas supplies to Australia’s east coast domestic market. ExxonMobil Australia Chair Simon Younger said the completed campaign will help maintain reliable Gippsland gas supply while the joint venture continues investing to meet future energy needs.

Gas from the new wells is set to start flowing before winter 2027. ExxonMobil said Turrum Phase 3 is expected to deliver more gas than any single Gippsland Basin joint venture development since the West Barracouta project, building on nearly A$1 billion in recent Gippsland Basin investment.
