BP brings Fayoum 4 well onstream two years early

BP started production from the Fayoum 4 well in Egypt’s West Nile Delta, bringing the well onstream about two years ahead of the original schedule. The well is adding approximately 80,000 mcf/d of gas to Egypt’s domestic supply, according to Egypt’s Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources.

BP discovered Fayoum during a 2025 exploration campaign and later drilled a sidetrack from the well to reach additional Messinian reservoir layers at a depth of about 3,000 m. Production is being routed through the Giza-Fayoum pipeline to existing West Nile Delta processing facilities, allowing BP to bring the well onstream without developing new subsea infrastructure. BP operates the West Nile Delta facilities with an 82.75% interest, with Harbour Energy holding the remaining 17.25%.
