IADC PDEU Student Chapter celebrates 5th anniversary, holds technical session
The IADC Pandit Deendayal Energy University (PDEU) Student Chapter celebrated its five-year anniversary at an event held on the PDEU campus in Gandhinagar, India, on 13 October. Participating leadership from the university included Rajesh Patel, PDEU Director; Bhawanisingh Desai, Dean of R&D; and Hari Sreenivasan, Head of the Petroleum Engineering Department.
Bhumin Baraiya, Assistant Executive Drilling Engineer at ONGC and a PDEU alumnus, led a technical session titled “Drilling Dynamics and Well Control.” Students were engaged in a discussion on critical topics such as kick detection, well control methods and pressure management techniques.
IADC Student Chapter, ADES team up to grow talent
In December, the IADC University of Boumerdès Student Chapter in Algeria announced it had entered a partnership with ADES. The collaboration aims to bridge the gap between academia and industry, as well as equip students with knowledge, exposure and opportunities to help them grow into competent and talented young professionals.
A Winter Internship Program was also launched as part of the partnership. See Page 26 for DC’s interview with Mohamed Farouk, CEO of ADES, as he talks about how the company is continuing to invest in training and capability building.
Separately, in November, the IADC University of Boumerdès Student Chapter appointed Salah Eddine Aidal as its new President.

South Central Asia Chapter engages with students
On 19 December, the IADC South Central Asia Chapter (SCAC) hosted a meeting attended by members of two IADC Student Chapters based in India: the IADC Pandit Deendayal Energy University Student Chapter and the IADC Maharashtra Institute of Technology Student Chapter.
The Student Chapters presented their recent and ongoing activities to the SCAC and discussed plans for future initiatives and events.
The session also provided an opportunity for students to seek guidance and support from the SCAC and its Young Professionals Subcommittee.
