IADC Board of Directors elects 2026 officers

Roddie Mackenzie, Chair, Transocean

As Executive VP and Chief Commercial Officer for Transocean, Mr Mackenzie is responsible for identifying innovative technologies that create demonstrable value for customers and differentiate Transocean from competitors, in addition to leading its marketing organization.

He previously served as Senior VP, Marketing, Innovation and Industry Relations; VP, Marketing and Contracts; Managing Director, Business Development and Strategic Accounts; and Marketing Director; with increasing roles of responsibility in the US, France and Dubai. He has over 20 years of industry experience and has served in various operational and project roles around the globe since starting his career at Transocean as a rig-based engineer in 1997.

Mr Mackenzie graduated from the Harvard Business School Advanced Management Program in 2016 and received his Bachelor’s degree from the University of Strathclyde in civil engineering with environmental studies in 1997.

Chris Menefee, Vice Chair, Cactus Drilling Company

Mr Menefee, who currently serves as Executive VP and Chief Business Officer at Cactus Drilling, has 28 years of experience in the industry. His experience spans business management, operations, safety management systems, domestic and international sales and marketing, and investor relations. Mr Menefee holds a B.A. from the University of Mississippi at Oxford and an MBA from The Cox School of Business at Southern Methodist University.

Nicola Stephen, Secretary/Treasurer, Seadrill

Ms Stephen is Director of Corporate Development at Seadrill, where she leads the company’s M&A, corporate finance and treasury activities. With over 15 years of experience in M&A, commercial finance and financial reporting, she has led high-value transactions such as acquisitions, divestitures and large-scale capital programs.

Prior to her current role, Ms Stephen held senior positions in commercial and group reporting at Seadrill. She holds a First-Class Honors degree in accounting and finance from Robert Gordon University and has completed executive education at INSEAD.

Lee Womble, Division VP Drilling Services, Kinetic Pressure Control

Mr Womble is currently the owner of Cameron Drilling Specialists LLC and serves as a Senior Advisor for Kinetic Pressure Control. He previously served as VP and Global Accounts Director for SLB, with global responsibility for drilling contractor accounts over all SLB divisions and basins. He joined Cameron Iron Works in 1988 as a Product Design Engineer after receiving his Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Texas at Austin.

Mr Womble received his registered Professional Engineer license from the state of Texas in 1993 and obtained his first patent in 1994.

Philip Dalrymple, Division VP North America Onshore, Independence Contract Drilling

Mr Dalrymple has served as Senior VP, Operations at Independence Contract Drilling since December 2020. He joined the company in January 2013 and has served in roles with increasing responsibility, including Drilling Superintendent and Operations Manager.

Prior to joining the company, Mr Dalrymple was employed at Rowan Companies, where he was a lead project engineer overseeing construction of offshore drilling rigs. He holds a B.S. in mechanical engineering from Texas A&M University.

Shawn Vigeant, Division VP Offshore, Transocean

Mr Vigeant is Head of Business Development, Customer Engagement and Industry Relations on a worldwide basis at Transocean. Over his 30-plus years in the upstream business, he has worked around the globe in increasing roles of responsibility in the areas of engineering, operations, projects, contracts, marketing, business development and industry relations. Prior to joining Transocean, he served as Director of Marketing & Sales for Ensco (North and South America Business Unit). Prior to that, he led global marketing and contracts at Pride International.

Mr Vigeant started his offshore drilling career with Diamond Offshore as a roustabout and worked his way up through the Operations Management/Accelerated Development Program, then went on to engineering/projects and marketing.

He has a B.S. in ocean engineering from the Florida Institute of Technology and an MBA from the University of Houston.

Michael Strauss, Division VP International Onshore, Ensign Energy Services

Mr Strauss is VP MENA for Ensign Energy Services based in Dubai. He joined Ensign in November 2015 and is responsible for the overall performance of the business unit. Prior to joining Ensign, he worked for KCA DEUTAG and Weatherford/WDI.

He has over 30 years of experience in the international oil and gas industry in senior operational, commercial and financial leadership roles and has lived and worked in Europe, the Middle East, Africa, Asia and Latin America.

Mr Strauss graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in business management from the VWA in Muenster and holds an MBA from Purdue University.
