Weatherford taps RFID technology for new drilling circulation sub

Weatherford launched its JetStream RFID-actuated drilling circulation sub last week at the 2013 SPE Annual Technical Conference & Exhibition in New Orleans, La. In this exclusive video, Rienk Reitsma, the company’s global product manager for specialty BHA tools, tells DC editorial coordinator Erin Pedigo how RFID tags provide unlimited actuation of circulating valves for high-volume pumping of drilling fluids and lost-circulation material. The tool can increase annular velocity to boost flow and enhance debris removal as part of the wellbore cleanup string.
