IADC, IOGP collaborate to address human factors, improve BOP performance

IADC and the International Association of Oil & Gas Producers (IOGP) have joined forces to enhance well control training and to collect BOP performance data. Steve Kropla, Vice President – Offshore Division at IADC and Chairman of the Human Factors Task Force Subcommittee at IOGP, highlighted the latest initiatives at the 2014 IADC Well Control Europe Conference in Aberdeen on 2 December. IADC and IOGP are sponsoring a joint industry project – BOP RAPID (Reliability and Performance Information Database) – to collect BOP performance data to be used to predict and eventually improve performance of subsea BOP systems, Mr Kropla explained.
