GE wins PEMEX surface wellhead, tree contract for GOM project

GE Oil & Gas has signed a multi-year agreement with PEMEX to supply and install surface wellheads and trees for an offshore project in the Campeche Sound Ayatsil field in the Gulf of Mexico.

GE’s surface wellheads and trees will be manufactured in Mexico City at the Ecatepec plant and “will have a high degree of local content,” said Antonio Ferreira, General Manager, Latin America – Drilling & Surface for GE Oil & Gas. “In turn, this will contribute to the national industry’s growth that Mexico is looking to achieve.”

In addition, GE and PEMEX have also announced they will be partnering with the Mexico Institute of Petroleum to research and develop technologies to help improve productivity and efficiency in mature fields, develop deep and ultra-deepwater drilling projects and modernize Mexico’s energy infrastructure.
