Rotary steerable designed for North American pad drilling features digital control, drilling dynamic sensors

At the 2018 IADC/SPE Drilling Conference in Fort Worth, Texas, on 6 March, Scout Downhole unveiled its new Rotary Steerable Scout technology. The RSS features the mechanical framework of the company’s Vertical Scout rotary steerable, with added digital controls by Sanvean Technologies. In this video from the conference, Steve Jones, President of Sanvean Technologies, explains how the digital controls and drilling dynamic sensors were added to the tool and how these additions impact its performance. He also discusses a testing program that took place in West Texas to prove the reliability of the new RSS.
