New R&D Technology Center honing drilling automation for the future

National Oilwell Varco (NOV) is testing next-generation drilling automation technologies at the company’s Research and Development Technology Center (RDTC) in Navasota, Texas. NOV has placed a 1,500-hp Ideal Prime Rig, equipped with wired drill pipe, at the center to provide a realistic testing environment. The rig is currently completing demo tests for new software applications that combine the NOV Operating System (NOVOS) and the eVolve Optimization Service. Watch DC’s video to learn more.
