Westwood sees Helmerich & Payne’s acquisition of KCA Deutag, announced in July, as a key signal indicating the direction of the onshore market in the Middle East. Mr Wilby described KCA Deutag’s Middle East rig contracts as the “real prize” of the acquisition.
