Halliburton launches Volta all-electric intelligent completions system

Halliburton launched the Volta all-electric control system, part of its SmartWell intelligent completions portfolio, designed to support continuous reservoir and wellbore health monitoring and improve well performance.

The system uses a mono-conductor, single-line design that eliminates hydraulics, with the aim of simplifying deployment and reducing operational risk. Its modular control valve architecture reduces inventory requirements, and pre-installation preparation of sub-assemblies is intended to support more consistent execution. The system integrates with Halliburton’s Clariti digital reservoir management suite and the EcoStar electric tubing-retrievable safety valve, which the company said makes Volta the first fully electric completion system it has proposed to the industry.

Maxime Coffin, VP of Halliburton Completion Tools, said the all-electric architecture gives operators greater precision and response speed to help maximize value over the life of the well.
