New drilling dynamics tool eliminates need for downhole statistical down sampling

National Oilwell Varco (NOV) has introduced the BlackBox High Frequency drilling dynamics tool, which samples dynamics data at 1500 Hz and load data at 100 Hz and records all high-speed data to its 8 GB memory. Because there is no need for downhole statistical down sampling, all data can be analyzed at surface for the entire run.
