Exclusive video: Goober changes name to Keen Energy Services

KeenAs part of a rebranding effort, Stillwater, Okla.-based Goober Drilling has changed its name to Keen Energy Services. This follows an aggressive fabrication program the company has been undertaking over the last three years, building 26 of its now 38-rig fleet.

Goober Drilling has been around for approximately a quarter-century, traditionally a Midcontinent driller that had also ventured out into the Barnett and Fayetteville shales in recent years. Ten of its 26 newbuilds are AC-power rigs and the rest are SCR-type rigs.

“Our motto is to do the right thing,” said Ed Jacob, president and CEO for Keen Energy. “We want to remember the past, recognize the present and focus on the future, and Keen is the vehicle to take us in to the future.”

The company hopes that the new name will better reflect is total service offering, including trucks, cranes, loaders, dozers and other construction equipment used to transport rigs and build drilling sites.

The name “Keen Energy Services” was selected as a symbol of several characteristics that are central to the company’s operations and core values – strength, perception, responsiveness, enthusiasm and capability. “We are excited about the future going forward,” Mr Jacob said.

Mr Jacob spoke exclusively with DC publisher Mike Killalea at the 2009 IADC Annual General Meeting on 10 November in Miami about his rebranded company as well as key industry challenges. Click below to view the video interview.
