Amplitude takes FID on Otway ECSP development, sanctions Nestor well
Amplitude Energy took a final investment decision (FID) on the development phase of its East Coast Supply Project (ECSP) in the offshore Otway Basin, Victoria, and agreed with partner O.G. Energy to drill the Nestor exploration well. The Annie, Juliet and Artisan fields are designed to deliver gross production of up to about 90 terajoules per day through the Athena Gas Plant for at least four years from first gas, targeted for 2028. The scope includes subsea installations and plant modifications during fiscal 2028, and it remains subject to completion of Amplitude’s acquisition of the Artisan field.
The Juliet-1 exploration well in permit VIC/L24 was completed and is being suspended for future development. A flow test peaked at a surface-constrained 56,700 mcf/d, and the well encountered 61 m of gross pay and 52 m of net pay in the Waarre C formation. Gas samples showed about 1% carbon dioxide and 2% nitrogen. The Transocean Equinox semisubmersible will move to the Annie discovery this week to begin the Annie-2 development well.
Nestor will be drilled after Annie-2 with the same rig, as an optional well preserved in the current campaign. Engineering and design work is complete and all regulatory approvals are in place. If Nestor finds gas, the well will be completed during the current campaign using the same one-touch approach as the rest of the ECSP program, and it could be commercialized as early as 2028 through existing Otway infrastructure.
