IADC took its technical forum series to the Appalachian Basin for the first time. With operators across the Marcellus and Utica pushing laterals longer and drilling windows tighter, the one-day event gave field personnel, innovators and operational leaders a dedicated space to compare notes and improve well construction performance.
Regionally focused sessions covered rig-move challenges, managed pressure drilling (MPD) case histories from operators and service companies across the basin, a Pennsylvania regulatory update from the Office of Oil & Gas Management, and a drilling contractor panel on red-zone reduction, offline cementing and remote drilling operations.
The day drew drilling engineers, rig superintendents, MPD specialists and operations and HSE leaders responsible for well construction in the region.
