Westgate Energy launches fall drilling program with Killam multilateral and Beaverdam sidetrack

Westgate Energy began drilling a multilateral well targeting the Sparky Formation at its Killam asset, with a planned total lateral length of about 9,600 m. The well offsets the 11-21, the best-performing Killam well to date, which has about 5,400 m of lateral length. The design allows for possible future waterflood development.
At Beaverdam, the company will re-enter and sidetrack the C3S well. The original well showed strong reservoir quality and oil shows similar to the nearby C2S horizontal, but a production liner failure restricted inflow and the well was shut in. The sidetrack will run parallel to the C2S, Westgate’s best Beaverdam well to date.
Drilling on both wells is expected to continue through November, followed by completion and tie-in, with production set to start in late November 2026. Westgate also plans a two-well program at Beaverdam in Q1 2027 to develop its Mannville Stack oil resource.
