Equinor adds two wells to Odfjell’s Deepsea Atlantic contract

Equinor exercised priced options for two additional wells for Odfjell Drilling’s Deepsea Atlantic semisubmersible, extending the rig’s firm contract to late Q4 2027. The work follows directly on the rig’s current contract at the pricing agreed in the original deal, and Equinor retains priced options for a further two wells.

Deepsea Atlantic is a sixth-generation, harsh environment semisubmersible of enhanced GVA 7500 design, built by DSME in South Korea and delivered in 2009. The dual derrick unit is rated for water depths of up to 3,000 m and drilling depths of 10,670 m, with a variable deck load of 7,500 metric tons. Dynamic positioning comes from eight 4,000 kW Wärtsilä thrusters, and the rig works for Equinor in Norway.
