Matador adds 156 net Delaware Basin locations as Paloma deal closes

Matador Resources completed its acquisition of Paloma Permian for $1.255 billion in cash, subject to customary post-closing adjustments. The purchase adds approximately 16,500 net primarily undeveloped acres in Eddy and Lea Counties, New Mexico, most of it held by production.

The acreage brings more than 156 net locations, normalized to two-mile laterals, across nine or more potential targeted benches. Paloma’s acreage carries 59 approved drilling permits, and Matador expects to start drilling up to 25 wells there by year-end 2027.

According to the company, production tied to the acquisition has beaten Matador’s underwriting estimates by about 10% since 1 June 2026, largely because of Paloma’s newest wells in Eddy County. Matador will discuss its Q4 plans for the assets in its Q3 earnings release in early November.
