WesCan drills seven-leg multilateral well in Alberta in 13 days

WesCan Energy finished drilling its Wescan 105 Provost 15-21-38-3 multilateral horizontal well in east-central Alberta, reaching total depth 13 days after spud. The well has seven horizontal legs totaling 6,159 m, all drilled from a single wellbore in the Rex Member of the Mannville Group. The rig was released on 22 September.

The laterals were geosteered using Pathfinder, a program developed by Bitcap. It combines the company’s 3D seismic interpretation with real-time drilling data to place each leg within the target zone.

The well is WesCan’s third multilateral in the Provost area. Completion and equipping work is starting immediately, and the well is expected to be tied in and on production in October 2026.
